As a small boy , I occasionally visited Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports . On one of these visits I witnessed the embarkation and departure of a small aircraft operated by Loganair.I wondered what it would be like to fly around the wonderful landscapes of Scotland.
Many years later. due to a strange set of circumstances, I was to get the chance to realise my dream and to explore my homeland from the air.
The photographs which follow, were taken over a period of two and a half years whilst flying the Highlands and Islands of Scotland as a First Officer with Loganair from 1991 to 1994.
I spent a year flying the Dehavilland Canada Twin-Otter and then a further eighteen months on the British Aerospace Jetstream 31.
I hope to convey some of the atmosphere of flying in an environment regarded by many commercial airline pilots , as the most interesting and challenging in the United Kingdom.
Most of the scenes can be enlarged, just by clicking on the individual photographs.
Eventually, it is hoped that this project will form the basis of a book some-day.
Enjoy your visit!
